It's time to once again get swept up in the Manhattan and Havana vibe all in one night as 'Luck be a lady tonight!' and Guys and Dolls is back in town at the Bridge Theatre in London.
The new and immersive adaptation of the classic musical allows audiences to join the characters throughout the performance with the option of either booking a standing ticket in the pit or watching the action from the seated sections of the theatre.
Guys and Dolls is a musical based on Damon Runyon’s collection of short stories, but notably two works in particular: “The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown" and“Blood Pressure” which transport readers right into the beating hearts of Havana and Manhattan.
Guys and Dolls follows the fortunes of Manhattan gambler Nathan Detroit, who is desperately searching for a new location for his crap shooting games. He’s assisted in his quest by Sky Masterson, who gambles on Nathan paying him out and honouring their deal on a bet: Nathan bets Sky that he can’t get any woman of his choosing on a date. But as the pair meet their “doll,” Sarah Brown, the odds of falling in love plummet until it becomes almost inevitable.
Although this new production of Guys and Dolls will be staged differently, all of the much-loved Frank Loesser songs will feature such as “Luck Be a Lady, “A Bushel and a Peck,” “Adelaide’s Lament”, and “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.”
Guys and Dolls was first staged in London in 1953 and has enjoyed four subsequent and successful revivals.
It's London’s coolest theatre experience, and it's coming to you in 2023.
